Moose Llama gets its name from a classic parenting prank. Jeremiah told his kids that elk were called Moose Llama. It wasn’t until years later when a teacher told his daughter, much to her chagrin, that the large, hairy, antler’d creatures were, in fact, called elk.
The Cascadian Dark Ale is a thing of wonder, much like the noble forest dweller described here. Moose Llama sends two messages to your brain, and through some boreal synergy manages to coalesce in Northwest splendor.
The generous use of dehusked roasted malt allowed us to create a very dark beer with much less astringency than if we’d used roasted barley. That leaves room for more assertive use of hops, including a hefty dry hop with Cryo Chinook & Cryo Simcoe. That combination is classic for the style, and plays well with the color and malt flavor to give the impression of dappled sun shining on forest duff.
